JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini emphasized his intention to work together to develop an Extraordinary School (SLB) so that students with disabilities can become independent.

Social Minister Risma said this was under discussion with the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim, who oversees education at SLB.

According to him, not all people with disabilities in Indonesia can continue their education because mobility problems are hindered.

"So they can't be alone and most of these children with disabilities from underprivileged families," said Social Minister Risma as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

In addition, SLB students who have various types of disabilities also need appropriate accessibility in order to be active. This is what according to the Minister of Social Affairs is not yet present in the school.

Meanwhile, when compared to the centers managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), he revealed that children who dropped out of school because they had disabilities had been facilitated by training so that they could be independent and continue to live.

Meanwhile, if the choice is inclusion school, or makes special treatment for children with disabilities at the school, there are quite complicated problems.

In addition to having to improve study support facilities to repair safe school buildings, apparently not all teachers have a special teaching background for people with various disabilities.

"They need their own treatment-treatment, they cannot be equated," he said.

Previously, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini in a Joint Working Meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR in Jakarta, Thursday (14/9) stated that he wanted to discuss with Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Makarien and Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas regarding inclusive education or Special Schools (SLB) which could be the domain of the Ministry of Social Affairs for students with disabilities.
