Golkar Deputy: It's Better To Support Ridwan Kamil Elected By PDIP If Airlangga Is Not Taken By Prabowo

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Deputy Melchias Markus Mekeng responded to the meeting of former West Java governor Ridwan Kamil and Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto. According to Mekeng, the meeting was an approach for the two figures.

Because Mekeng assessed that Prabowo wanted to see the figures included in the 2024 vice presidential market, including his party cadre Ridwan Kamil.

"Yes, his name is Prabowo, the term is that if he wants to buy goods, he has to choose which one is the best, right. Maybe he meets all the candidates who have potential, one of which is Ridwan Kamil. It's just a matter of which decision is suitable," Mekeng told reporters, Thursday, September 14.

According to Mekeng, Golkar needs to consider Ridwan Kamil as an alternative vice presidential candidate to be promoted in the 2024 presidential election. The reason is, Ridwan Kamil, who is familiarly called RK, is also seen as the candidate pair for PDIP presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo.

It is known, according to Rapimnas, the Golkar Party supports General Chair Airlangga Hartarto running as a presidential or vice presidential candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

"From the party side, Golkar must be ready, if for example Airlangga is not taken, he must think again to see Ridwan Kamil as an alternative," said Mekeng.

Therefore, Mekeng assessed that Golkar must also be realistic in seeing opportunities in the 2024 presidential election. Instead, he said, Golkar should support RK chosen by PDIP if Airlangga does not become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate.

"So now it's just that Golkar is more realistic, if Pak Airlangga is not taken by Pak Prabowo, Golkar must think that he should win the party," said Mekeng.

"If Ridwan Kamil wants to be taken by PDIP, it's better to support Ridwan Kamil than 0-0," he added.
