BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) has taken over the handling of the Sarimukti TPA fire from the West Bandung Regency Government to accelerate the blackout, as well as extend the status of the waste emergency until September 25, 2023.

Acting Governor of West Java Bey Sapi Machmudin revealed that the handling of emergency status, which has now been taken directly by the provincial government, will make it easier for the blackout to be technically.

"From its position, the authority is even higher, and of course if the budget can be used for this emergency response assistance, and also more, yes, of course we will move faster," said Bey Machmudin at the Sarimukti TPA, West Bandung, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 12.

With the current authority in the West Java Provincial Government, Bey said that now his party will disburse emergency funds of up to IDR 5.8 billion.

"For funds amounting to Rp5.8 billion as a effort to extinguish this fire," he said.

For the strategy he will do later, Bey said he would cooperate with various parties such as the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to engineer the weather to accelerate the outage.

"Later on, maybe we will coordinate with the BMKG or parties related to artificial rain," said Bey.

Then, cooperation was also collaborated with the TNI-Polri, BPBD to the fire service in various regions to make road clusters to go to the hotspots by hoarding mud.

"I am optimistic that the fire will be resolved. There is a extinguishing strategy that we have prepared, a road cluster will be created to make it easier to get to the hotspots again," he added.

Previously, the emergency status of the Sarimukti TPA fire disaster was stopped by West Bandung Regency on Monday (11/9) after deploying various efforts and funds of around Rp. 1 billion.

Now the fire at the Sarimukti TPA is being handled by the West Java Provincial Government by issuing a decision on the emergency response status of the Sarimukti TPA fire disaster, from September 12 to September 25, 2023. It includes the TPA fire disaster emergency handling team.
