2021 National Examination Abandoned, How Is A Student Declared To Pass School?

JAKARTA - Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Anwar Makarim issued circular (SE) Number 1 of 2021 concerning the Abolition of the National Examination and Equality Examination and Implementation of National Examinations in an Emergency for the Spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) on February 1, 2021.

Reporting from the setkab.go.id site, in this circular, addressed to Governors, Regents, and Mayors throughout Indonesia, Nadeim said, with regard to the increasing spread of COVID-19, it is necessary to take responsive steps that prioritize physical and mental safety and health. students, educators, and education personnel.

The following were the things conveyed by the Minister of Education and Culture in the circular letter:

First, the National Examination (UN) and the 2021 equivalency exam were eliminated. With the elimination of the National Examination and the equivalence exam in 2021, the National Examination and equivalency examinations are not a requirement for graduation or selection to enter a higher education level.

Then, how are students declared to have graduated from educational units/programs?

Determination of graduation consists of several ways, namely:

1. completing learning programs during the COVID-19 pandemic as evidenced by a report card every semester.

2. Obtain a minimum good attitude/behavior score

3. Take exams organized by the education unit.

Furthermore, in the circular it is explained, the examination conducted by the education unit is carried out in the form of:

1. Portfolio in the form of evaluation of report card scores, attitudes/behavior scores, and previous achievements (awards, competition results, etc).

2. Assignment

3. Test offline or online; and/or

4. Other forms of assessment activities determined by the education unit

In addition to exams held by education units, vocational high school students can also take skills competency tests in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

Meanwhile, the equivalence for graduates of the Package A program, Package B program, and Package C program is carried out in accordance with the following conditions:

1. Graduation for equivalent education students in accordance with the provisions in the third point

2. The exam administered by the education unit as referred to in point three-letter c for equivalency education students in the form of an equivalence education unit level exam is recognized as an equivalent graduate

3. The equivalence education unit level exam is carried out in the form of the test as referred to in point four; participants in the unit level examination in equivalency education are students registered in the nominated list of participants in the equivalence education test in the basic data of early childhood education, basic education, and secondary education; and

5. The results of the equivalent education unit level examination must be entered in the main education data.
