Makassar Polrestabes Secures 65 Illegal Racing Vehicles

Makassar Police have secured two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles) and four-wheeled cars (cars) caught in patrols for violating and suspected of being involved in illegal racing on a number of highways in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"The results of the disclosure of illegal racing perpetrators have secured evidence as many as 65 vehicles, including 60 units of two-wheeled vehicles and five units of four-wheeled vehicles or cars," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

He emphasized that the police took action against the perpetrators involved in this illegal race because apart from endangering his soul, other drivers.

The arrests of dozens of vehicles, after a special team (Timsus) suddenly engulfed wildly, consisted of personnel from the Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigation Unit and the Samapta Unit, totaling 50 personnel.

"We have built security posts and taken action against illegal racing at the flyover traffic post (flyover road). This operation will be carried out from Friday night to Saturday," he said.

Of the 65 vehicles caught, he said, generally do not have documents and use Brong exhausts and drivers are dominated by minors or teenagers and do not yet have a driving license (SIM).

"The secured vehicle was taken to the Mako Polrestabes and taken action, namely a ticket in accordance with applicable regulations," said Ngajib.

The former Medan City Police Chief appealed to the public to obey traffic rules, not violate such as going against the flow, not wearing helmets, illegal racing and other traffic violations.

"If traffic violations are obtained, strict legal processes will be carried out. In particular, illegal racing can be applied and subject to a sentence of Article 63 paragraph (1) of Law Number 38 of 2004 with a maximum imprisonment of 18 months or a maximum fine of IDR 1.5 billion," he said.
