JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has imposed administrative sanctions on the iron and steel industry for violating environmental regulations related to the use of pipes that are not yet feasible for operation.

"The use of the'reheating' coil (reheating) must obtain a certificate that is like an operation," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Service Law Enforcement Sub-group (DLH) Hugo Urina as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

This administrative sanction is based on the Decree of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Number e-0154/2023 concerning the Implementation of Government Forced Administrative Sanctions to PT Jakarta Central Asia Steel, which was given last Friday (8/9).

The administrative sanction against PT Jakarta Central Asia Steel is in the form of self-reheating the operational cerench with reheating. If this is not obeyed, the sanctions received will be increased.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that DKI Jakarta DLH will continue to monitor industries that still do not comply with environmental regulations.

"The government's coercion of administrative sanctions will be increased to temporarily suspend or all efforts and activities. So, the industry hopes to obey environmental regulations, for the common good," explained Asep.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) had imposed administrative sanctions for forcibly stopping the operations of the coal warehousing and stockpile company PT. Bahana Indokarya Global in East Jakarta.

"In addition to not completing environmental management documents, there are several findings of the same violations as yesterday's inspection results, it seems that the violation is a classic problem for coal-stockpile companies," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Asep Kuswanto.

DLH DKI Jakarta has also imposed a forced cessation of business activities for two coal warehousing and storage companies (stockpile) in North Jakarta, namely PT Trada Trans Indonesia and PT Tans Bara Energy.
