Ungkit Yenny Wahid Supports Jokowi In The 2019 Presidential Election, Prabowo: Separated, At The End Together Again

JAKARTA - The presidential candidate from the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, brought up the political stance of the daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Yenny Wahid, who had opposed him.

In the 2019 presidential election, Yenny supported Joko Widodo as Prabowo's rival as a presidential candidate. However, now Yenny has revealed her support for Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.

Prabowo admitted that he had no problem with it. This was revealed after receiving Yenny's arrival at his residence.

"Political differences are common, sometimes Mbak Yenny is on a different side with me. There is no problem, communication remains good. In 2019, if I'm not mistaken, Mbak Yenny (supports) Pak Jokowi," Prabowo said in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 6.

The Minister of Defense assessed that his closeness to Yenny currently carries a message of differences in political attitudes that used to occur between the two were not an obstacle to working together in the future.

"That competing, different opinions are common. Sometimes together, later we separate, in the end we are together again," said Prabowo.

Meanwhile, Yenny Wahid also expressed his support for Prabowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election.

This representative figure of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) views that Prabowo is a suitable person to continue Indonesia's leadership after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s term of office ends.

Yenny said that the next incident needs to anticipate the impact of global supply of chains that could occur in Indonesia from geopolitical tensions that occur in other countries.

With the experience of holding the position of Minister of Defense in Jokowi's cabinet, Yenny said Prabowo was a capable figure in facing these challenges.

"Well, leaders who will lead Indonesia in the future must understand the dynamics of geopolitical people who must have the ability to think strategy. I think people like Pak Prabowo have that ability," said Yenny.

"So it is mandatory for me as a representation of Gus Dur's group to communicate intensely with Pak Prabowo to listen to his policies, to provide our aspirations about what the future state should be like," he added.

The meeting between Yenny and Prabowo in Kertanegara lasted for about an hour and a half. On the sidelines of the meeting, the wife of the late Gus Dur, Sinta Nuriyah, followed her son to meet Prabowo.

This meeting occurred after PKB left the coalition of parties supporting Prabowo as a presidential candidate in 2024 because the general chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar, became a candidate for vice president to accompany Anies Baswedan.
