Punishment In Accordance With The Suspect Of Students Drifting In The Sempor River

JAKARTA - The police named a scout extracurricular coach as a suspect and charged him with multiple articles. He became a suspect because he neglected to look after hundreds of hundreds of students at SMPN 1 Turi, so he was swept away during river tracing activities in the Sempor River.

The Head of Public Relations of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Police, Kombes Yuliyanto, said that the determination of the suspect against IYA was based on the results of the title of the case which was considered to fulfill the element of crime.

"The status of one of the initial witnesses IYA is a suspect," said Yuliyanto when contacted, Monday, February 24.

The suspect allegedly violated Articles 359 and 360 of the Criminal Code concerning negligence which caused other people to be injured and died.

Even though they have named a suspect in the incident, the police are still examining 13 people who were directly or indirectly involved in the incident. So, it is possible, the number of suspects in the case could increase.

Those examined consisted of seven extracurricular coaches, three people from the Kwatir Cabang or organizational unit that manages the Scout Movement in Sleman Regency and local residents who are tourism managers in the Sempor Valley.

"The examination of Kwarcab elements is to find out the rules related to Scouting activity risk management," said Yuliyanto.

It was later discovered that the river tracing activity did not have a permit. The principal of SMPN 1 Turi Tutik Nurdiyana did not know about the event. In fact, there was no notification from the scout coaches regarding river tracing activities in the Sempor River.

"Indeed, previously there was no report that the Scouting activities would be tracing the river. So to be honest I did not know that yesterday there was a river crossing," said Tutik, Saturday, February 22.

There was no information when holding the activity, allegedly because the scout coaches thought that the event was a normal occurrence. This is because river tracing is an old program at SMPN 1 Turi.

In addition, seven school teachers have also been involved to accompany the river tracing activities to supervise hundreds of students. It's just that, that incident was inevitable. Thus, an apology that can only be conveyed for events that occurred beyond his expectations.

"For this accident, on behalf of the school, we apologize, this is beyond prediction," said Tutik.

The activity of scouting students at SMPN 1 Turi was carried out on Friday, February 21 at 15.30 WIB. Public Relations of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Agus Wibowo stated that when he started down the Sempor River, Sleman the weather was still bright and it had not rained.

However, when the activity was taking place, suddenly a large flow came from the upstream. At least 10 students were found dead and 23 students were injured.

A total of 21 students were hospitalized or returned to their respective homes and two students were hospitalized at the Turi Community Health Center, namely Teta Versya and Hapsari Teta.
