JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with 5 regional heads namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Bali. This meeting discussed the handling of COVID-19.

"Let Anies and other governors convey the directions and policies discussed at the afternoon meeting at the Palace regarding the handling of COVID," said DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria to reporters, Wednesday, February 3.

When asked again about the content of the meeting, Riza emphasized that he was not authorized to speak. Because the meeting was immediately followed by Anies and other regional heads, namely West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubowono X, and Bali Governor I Wayan Koster.

"Let the results of the meeting come from the president who delivered or the governors who were present. I don't have the capacity because I didn't attend the meeting,” said Riza Patria.

In an interview with journalists, Riza only explained again about the proposed weekend lockdown in the capital city of Jakarta. According to him, the DKI Provincial Government is still reviewing the proposal.

“The Saturday-Sunday lockdown was a suggestion from DPR member Saleh Daulay. He said that this government needs to take a different policy. If the lockdown for two weeks and one month is tough, he suggested lockdown on the weekend or Saturday-Sunday and this is enforced in Turkey and is quite good," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Chair of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN), Airlangga Hartato, claimed that the imposition of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) in three provinces had improved.

The provinces are DKI Jakarta, Central Java, and Yogyakarta. However, Airlangga did not explain in detail how the implementation of PPKM made the handling of COVID-19 in the province improved.

"From PPKM data, it can be seen that several provinces have experienced improvements, namely Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta," said Airlangga in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Wednesday, February 3.

However, overall, of the 98 districts/cities that have implemented PPKM in Java and Bali Provinces to date, there are still many areas that have the status of a red zone or a high-risk zone for COVID-19.

"Of the 98, there are 63 regencies/cities that are still in red (zone). This is a decrease from 92 (in the first phase of PPKM)," said Airlangga.
