Cases Of Accounting For Acute Kidney Failure, UGM Professor Says No Draft Drug Data Is The Cause

JAKARTA - Professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Prof. DR. So far, the prosecutor's team is said to have not presented complete data that can prove that the victims of kidney failure died due to takinggalun drugs containing EG and DEG exceeded the threshold. "In the 5 victims proposed by the prosecutor in the data presentation, data presentations should be given based on their weight, how many foams are consumed, to find out TDI (Tolerable Daily Intake) related to the threshold for levels that kill EG and DEG," he said. In fact, Yunus emphasized that none of the witnesses, including experts, were submitted by the prosecutor who stated that the deaths of the victims were caused by EG and DEG. "This case does have an emotional side because the victim is an Acute Kidney Failure in Children (GGA), but legal facts and justice must always be prioritized," said Yunus. As is known, especially children who take the drug Paracetamol experience Atypical Acute System Failure Disorder (GGAPA) or Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). This incident resulted in 5 victims dying.

In this case, the defendants were charged with violating Article 196 in conjunction with Article 98 paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) UURI number 36 of 2009 concerning health in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code. Then, the second dakwan of Article 62 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph (1) letter a UURI No.8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code and the third indictment of Article 359 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
