Case Of Alleged Harassment At Miss Universe Indonesia Beauty Contest Rises To Investigation

Polda Metro Jaya raised the case of alleged sexual harassment at the Miss Universe Indonesia beauty pageant to the investigation stage. This event was held by PT CSK as the Event Organizer (EO). "A case has been carried out to raise it to an investigation process," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko when contacted, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, August 28. Previously, Polda Metro Jaya through the Women and Children Service Unit examined victims of alleged sexual harassment at a beauty contest, Monday last week. "The police have examined and questioned seven victims, there are also two witnesses," said victim Mellisa Anggraini's attorney when met at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday. During the examination, Mellisa said that they told what happened in the incident on August 1, 2023 during the quarantine of the beauty pageant. "They conveyed the incident on August 1 that occurred during the quarantine of the Miss Universe Indonesia 2023 contest process. There is a difference from the statements of each victim about how the alleged harassment was carried out," he said. The attorney for victims of abuse at the beauty pageant, Melisa Anggraini, revealed that 30 participants were victims of harassment at the annual event. "Actually, there are 30 people who experienced it. But only 7 people have given power of attorney. But the time is running out," he said when he visited the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday. Mellisa also conveyed her arrival to the Polda Metro Jaya for further questioning about the chronology in the case. "Of course I convey what the victims said, what they experienced," he said. He also conveyed his impact on the victims. "Then how will it impact them, why did they finally decide to report this. Including the chronology of the big picture, it will be explored again," he said.
