JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will consider the option of implementing a lockdown or territorial quarantine on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays.

Riza admitted that this option was based on a recommendation from a member of the Indonesian parliament because COVID-19 cases continued to increase despite implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM). This proposal refers to the policy of the Turkish state government.

"That is a suggestion from friends in the DPR RI. Of course DKI Jakarta will conduct a study, analysis. Later, the Governor will also chair internal meetings, whether the proposed lockdown weekend from the DPR RI is possible", said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 2.

Riza acknowledged the fact that many people do activities outside the home on weekends. This interaction has the potential to generate crowds and spread the corona virus.

"Because offices are closed, many Jakarta residents do activities outside their homes. Not only to the market, to malls, recreation areas, including visiting relatives, including out of town", said Riza.

"For that, we always ask that during holidays, Saturday-Sunday, we also ask to stay at home", he continued.

Previously, Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, considered that the government policy to limit community activities through PSBB and PPKM had not been maximally successful. Evidently, more and more people are exposed to COVID-19 every day. In fact, the number is more than 1 million people.

Therefore, Daulay asked the government to look for other policy alternatives such as implementing a weekend lockdown policy.

"The lockdown for the weekend is intended to reduce the movement of people in public spaces. People living in the red and orange zone are not allowed to leave the house on weekends. Starting from Friday night, around 20.00, until Monday morning at 05.00. did not go out for 2 days 3 nights", he said.

Central Java at Home Only

Meanwhile, the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, said that the Central Java Movement Only at Home will be held this weekend as an effort to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases.

"Most of the results of the meeting with the Sekda and thank God agree that we are ready on February 6-7, 2021 to carry out the movement at home simultaneously", he said in Semarang as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 2.

Ganjar revealed that currently he is preparing a circular for the regions related to the implementation of the Central Java Movement at Home Only.

In a circular also prepared an appeal to crowded places to close on February 6-7, 2021. At that time it can be used for cleaning as well as spraying disinfectants.

"Only for two days, the crowded places for tourism, our market shops, will take a break first. Now, we will have the opportunity to spray all of them so that they are clean, the tourism spots will also be closed first", he said.

Ganjar hopes that the implementation of the Central Java Movement at Home Only can raise awareness in the community because its implementation will not be effective without community participation.
