JAKARTA - The Directorate of Business Development and Incubation of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) has asked the public not to be trapped in buying a breath-based COVID-19 detector through an online shop.

Director of the UGM Directorate of Business Development and Incubation Hargo Utomo said, GeNose has obtained a distribution license and is marketed through an official distributor.

The selling price differs greatly from that offered by online stores. GeNose's highest retail price (HET) is Rp.62 million per unit before tax.

"There you can see GeNose being sold at various prices. Some are Rp. 75 million, Rp. 80 million and even Rp. 90 million. The price has been determined and it is not allowed to sell above that price," said Hargo in an electronic message as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 2.

Meanwhile, the distribution is managed by PT Swayasa Prakarsa. Currently there are 3 authorized GeNose C19 distributors and three other distributors are following.

Therefore, Hargo hopes that the public will be careful and wary of the offer to buy GeNose other than through the appointed official distributor. Moreover, he said, GeNose is not yet offered through online shopping sites.

Hargo, who also represents UGM Science Techno Park, added that GeNose C19 marketing is currently prioritized for the prevention of COVID-19 in health services, hospitals, public services, government, schools, Islamic boarding schools, campuses and companies / industries.

"At this stage, it has not been prioritized for the household or individual scale," he said.
