High COVID-19 Case, Ganjar Pranowo Encourages Central Java Movement At Home Only

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the Central Java Movement at Home Only will be held this weekend as an effort to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases.

"Most of the results of the meeting with the Sekda and thank God agree that we are ready on February 6-7, 2021 to carry out the movement at home together," he said in Semarang as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 2.

Ganjar revealed that currently he is preparing a circular for the regions related to the implementation of the Central Java Movement at Home Only.

In a circular also prepared an appeal to crowded places to close on February 6-7, 2021. At that time it can be used for cleaning as well as spraying disinfectants.

"Only for two days, the crowded places for tourism, our market shops, will take a break first. Now, we will have the opportunity to spray all of them so that they are clean, the tourism spots will also be closed first," he said.

Ganjar hopes that the implementation of the Central Java Movement at Home Only can raise awareness in the community because its implementation will not be effective without community participation.

"So we hope that the community will not spill on the street for two days, everyone is at home and we ask for this participation to be carried out by the whole community. This circular has been prepared later so that this day can run well," he said.

Ganjar explained that this policy was a response from the regions after President Joko Widodo in his press statement some time ago called the implementation of PPKM a failure.

"And that's what I think is important in translating what the government wants," he said.

According to him, President Jokowi's assessment that the PPKM was failing meant that all those in the regions had to find extra ways to try to suppress the growth of COVID-19 cases.

Therefore, continued Ganjar, he initiated the policy of the Central Java Movement at Home Only with the hope of providing understanding to the public about discipline which will have a good impact on reducing COVID-19 cases.

"So, we want to do a trial, try it in this community, the COVID-19 is still high, you know, there are many victims, the hospital is getting full, well, with conditions like this, let's participate together, we just practice for two days, February 6-7, 2021 we are at home. So if it can be implemented, who knows Central Java can be an example, "he said.
