JAKARTA - The Institute for Strategic Studies and Development (LKSP) has released the results of a survey regarding the assumption that there is a transactional politics (money politics) in the election process for the Deputy Governor of DKI conducted by the DKI DPRD.

This public perception survey was conducted on 400 residents of DKI Jakarta from 9-16 February 2020. The confidence level was 95 percent using the modified probability sampling method.

In the results of the survey, the Director of LKSP Astriana Sinaga stated that 68 percent of respondents had concerns about money politics transactions being accepted by DPRD members in electing DKI Deputy Governor candidates.

Meanwhile, 8 percent of respondents believed that no money politics had occurred. The rest, as many as 24 percent answered they did not know.

"The magnitude of the public's concern over the potential for money politics is very reasonable. Given the regional head elections conducted by the DPRD were held during the New Order era," Astriana told reporters, Friday, February 21.

Not to mention, there was no community involvement in the process of selecting the Deputy Governor of DKI to replace Sandiaga Uno, but was taken from the voting of 106 DPRD DKI members.

That means, said Astriana, that the public, as a place for the aspirations of DPRD members of each electoral district (dapil), cannot monitor whether their votes against the two candidates are accommodated or not.

"If later the process will only be completed, then give an explanation of the vision and mission, then the factions ask questions, where is the public involvement? Where is the role of the community?" he said.

The opinion poll for DKI Deputy Governor candidates

LKSP also released the results of a public support survey for the two DKI Deputy Governor candidates, namely Ahmad Riza Patria, who was promoted by the Gerindra Party and Nurmansjah Lubis from PKS.

As a result, as many as 61 percent of respondents knew that there was an election for the Deputy Governor of DKI conducted by the DPRD, 39 percent said they did not know.

Of the respondents who knew, 55 percent said Nurmansjah Lubis would be selected as the number 2 person in DKI. Then, 16.5 percent preferred Ahmad Riza Patria. Then, 3.3 percent still chose Sandiaga Uno.

"The reason why more people choose Nurmansjah is because he is more popular on social media, even though Riza is a member of the legislature at the national level," Astriana explained.

Furthermore, as many as 90 percent of the public agreed to the fit and proper test of the two cawagub. Then, 6 percent of respondents thought there was no need for a fit and proper test. Then, 3 percent said they don't know.
