The Indonesian National Police Force Will Solve Abu Janda Case, People Are Asked Not To Be Rowdy

JAKARTA - Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency asked the public not to be provoked by the tweets of social media activist Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda. The National Police guaranteed that they would thoroughly investigate the case involving Abu Janda.

"We, from the National Police, of course, if a case has been entrusted, adjusted and resolved through legal channels, then entrust the Police to solve it all", said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Tuesday, February 2.

There are two cases related to Abu Janda which are currently being processed. First, regarding the alleged blasphemy of 'Islam Arogan' which is registered with the police number LP/B/0056/I/2021 dated January 29, 2021.

Then, the case of alleged hate speech with the elements of SARA to Natalius Pigai. This case is registered with the police number LP/B/0052/I/2021/Bareskrim dated Thursday, January 28, 2021.

With the legal process still ongoing, Rusdi asked the public not to take any action that would cause an uproar.

"So there is no need to take counterproductive actions that lead to an uproar. I believe the Police will resolve all reported cases in a professional, accountable and open manner", said Rusdi.

Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda was questioned by the National Police on Monday, February 1. He was checked for about 12 hours with 50 questions.

Abu Janda said in the investigation that his tweets only answered Tengku Zulkarnain, who alluded to the question of you being a minority.

"When I say arrogant, it is because I responded to Tengku Zul's provocative tweet saying that the minority in this country is arrogant to the majority. That's where the arrogant word comes out", he said.

"And then when I said Islam as a country that came from Arab, I addressed the cleric Tengku Zul", continued Abu Janda.
