Police Collaborate With The Ministry To Interpol To Hunt Men Burners Of Red And White Flags In Malaysia

JAKARTA - The National Police are collaborating with two ministries and Interpol to investigate the burning of the red and white flag that went viral on social media. The whereabouts of the perpetrators are known in Malaysia.

"The National Police have taken steps to cooperate with relevant agencies to resolve this issue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communication and Information and also Interpol," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Tuesday, February 2.

However, the police have not yet been able to describe further steps in handling this case. The National Police only ensures cooperation with related parties in tracing the perpetrator with the initials AK.

"It has been identified that the owner of the account is a 25 year old AK who resides in Aceh. Meanwhile, he is currently working in Malaysia," he said.

Previously, a video of a man burning a red and white flag went viral on TikTok. The man burned the red and white flag by sprinkling oil or gasoline.

The man who wore a predominantly black shirt seemed to splash the liquid several times. Although the man did not speak at all, a song could be heard accompanying the burning of the flag.
