SLEMAN - Sleman Regent, Yogyakarta Special Region Kustini Sri Purnomo inaugurated the Sindu Mandiri Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST), Padukuhan Kragilan, Kalurahan Sindudi, Mlati.

Kustin hopes that the inauguration of this TPST will be a concrete step and one of the efforts to reduce the generation of waste by processing it into something useful.

The Regent appreciated Kalurahan Sindudi for his initiative and became a pioneer in the management of integrated waste.

"It is hoped that this will be a concrete step in overcoming the emergence of waste in Sleman. We appreciate Kalulahan Sindudi for being a pioneer in the management of integrated waste and in the future, hopefully, it can motivate all villages in Sleman to jointly manage waste starting from the village level," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 14.

According to him, as a long-term step, the Sleman Regency Government is also targeting the completion of the construction of two integrated waste processing sites (TPST) this year with a capacity of 90 tons of waste per day.

"Meanwhile, in 2024, we will also build one TPST and encourage the revitalization of 3R TPS and waste management at the village level," he said.

He hopes that these various waste management efforts can be supported by all elements of society, both from the government, academics, industry and the people of Sleman by managing waste starting from the household level by reducing waste production and sorting waste.

Deputy Chancellor of UGM for Student Affairs, Community Service and Arie Sudjito said waste management should be a priority.

He said the key to waste management and handling is the participation of all elements from the government to the community.

"Sindudi residents and Sleman Regency must continue to struggle in handling waste and be a priority in line with industrial, modernization and trade developments in order to prevent health risks and conflicts," he said.

The Head of Sindudi Village, Senen Haryanto, said that the integrated waste management process at the Sindu Mandiri TPST, Sindudi, started from garbage coming into the adaptable walking above the conveyor, then the waste would be sorted by the sorting team.

"Inorganic waste is sorted according to their respective characteristics, then the results of the permit were packaged with their respective types," he said.

Meanwhile, organic waste produces waste porridge which will be used as macot feed and liquid compost and fertilizer are used for agriculture.

"Organic waste management can also use BSF flies to degrade organic waste. Magot itself when it reaches harvest time can be used for fish feed, ducks and other livestock," he said.
