BMKG Make Sure The Sound Of The Banging From Inside The Ground In Sumenep Is Not Damaged By The Soil Structure

The team from the Pasuruan Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that natural phenomena in the form of sounds and sounds on the ground in Moncek Tengah Village, Sumenep Regency, East Java, did not damage the soil structure.

"We have received data on seismograph (digital time seismograph) records installed on site. Our provisional analysis shows that this natural phenomenon does not damage the structure in the soil," said BMKG Geophysics Analyst Pasuruan, Tofa, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 14.

On Saturday (12/8) morning, natural phenomena in the form of sounds and vibrations from within the ground occurred in the Central Hamlet of RT 07/RW 02, Moncek Tengah Village, Lenteng District, Sumenep.

This natural phenomenon, as released from the Sumenep Police, was heard and felt in five local residents' houses with a duration of 45 minutes from 09.45 WIB to 10.30 WIB.

BMKG Sumenep immediately coordinated with the BMKG geophysics team and then personnel from BMKG Pasuruan went to the location for observation on Sunday (13/8).

They then put up a seismograph at the location of the natural phenomenon in the form of sounds and vibrations from within the ground to collect data.

Tofa explained that the types of rocks at the location where the sound and vibrations in the soil appeared were categorized as very hard and were subsequently not affected by the natural phenomenon that occurred two days ago.

"There is no change in the structure in the soil or the impact on the building above the location of the sound and vibration. Friends of journalists can see for themselves. There is no damage to the building," he said, explaining.

However, he said, the results of the analysis needed further data processing and could be combined with the results of the work of other teams that would be brought in by the Sumenep Regency Government.

"Please do a more in-depth study. There have indeed been similar incidents in other areas in East Java and the intensity is indeed much larger. This (in Central Moncek Village) is small," said Tofa.
