Bio Farma Will Begin The Production Process For COVID-19 Vaccine Using 11 Million Raw Materials On February 13

JAKARTA - PT Bio Farma has confirmed that 11 million raw materials for the COVID-19 vaccine that have just arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) will be produced as soon as possible. The State-owned enterprises Pharmaceutical Holding targets the production process to be carried out on February 13, 2021.

Bio Farma Secretary Bambang Heriyanto said, before being produced into finished products that are ready to be injected, vaccines must go through a series of stringent quality tests and controls by Bio Farma and the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

Furthermore, said Bambang, the process must be carried out to ensure that the vaccines produced to meet the quality standards set.

"Today's arrivals will be processed on February 13 and expected to be completed on March 20, 2021", he said at a press conference for the arrival of vaccines, Tuesday, February 2.

The raw materials for vaccines received by Indonesia today are part of the raw materials imported from Sinovac Life Sciences Co. Ltd., China, with as many as 140 million doses in 2021. In which, the delivery will be carried out gradually until July 2021.

Bambang explained that the delivery of raw materials for the COVID-19 vaccine was accelerated from the previous government's target which was planned to be completed in November 2021.

As reported, currently 11 million COVID-19 vaccines from Sinovac have arrived at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) Cargo Terminal in Tangerang, Banten, Tuesday, February 2 at 10.30 pm using a Singapore Airlines SQ 080.

The 11 million vaccines consist of 10 million raw materials and 1 million over-vail or semi-finished vaccines. Today's arrival of vaccine raw materials is the fourth batch of shipments made by Sinovac Life Sciences Co. Ltd. So that currently there are 28 million vaccines in the country.
