NTB - The East Lombok Police have arrested ED, a methamphetamine smuggler who carried out his mode of storing drug evidence in light bulbs.

The Bima resident in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is a recidivist in a drug case who was just released on parole from the Dompu Regency prison in August 2023.

"We have detained the suspect ED and now the legal process is at the investigation stage," said East Lombok Police Drug Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) Adjunct Commissioner of Police (AKP) I Gusti Ngurah Bagus Suputra via telephone, Monday, August 14, confiscated by Antara.

Ngurah said the ED suspect was arrested based on reports from the public regarding methamphetamine smuggling from the Masbagik area, East Lombok to Dompu Regency.

"The smuggling was carried out by land by boarding one of the travel agency buses to Dompu," he said.

Members of the East Lombok Police who were deployed to monitor every travel agency bus passenger at Kayangan Port found an ED on Thursday, August 10 evening. Ed, who was searched, was found to be carrying methamphetamine in two clear plastic clips.

"We found one clip in the trouser pocket. Another clip was in a light bulb. This bulb was kept in the suspect's bag," he said.

From the results of the weighing, the weight of the two clear plastic clips containing methamphetamine in the form of white crystalline powder reached 1 ounce.

"For the time being, the suspect admits that he is only an errand boy. He is paid IDR 5 million when the goods arrive at Dompu," he said.

Ngurah said that his party is still investigating the buyer and supplier of these illicit goods.
