NTB Police Recorded Losses Of 132 Victims Of P3MI Fraud In Mataram Reaching IDR 1.9 Billion

The loss of victims of alleged fraud by an Indonesian migrant worker departure company (P3MI) based in Majeluk, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, reached Rp1.9 billion. "So it was revealed that there was a loss of Rp1.9 billion. That was from the record of deposits of 132 people," said Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the NTB Police Kombes Teddy Ristiawan in Mataram, Antara, Friday, August 11. The number of victims comes from the recruitment process since 2022. Deposits per person are recorded to be quite varied. The value is from Rp. 30 million to Rp. 50 million. "Actually, since 2022 it has been revealed that a total of 286 people have been recruited. Four of them have been dispatched to Taiwan's destination country," he said. The NTB Regional Police found that the company that has a head office in Jakarta has the legality to send PMI abroad. "Actually, this company is legal. However, because SIP2MI (Indonesian Migrant Worker Recruitment Permit) owned by the company has been dead, it has been revoked since mid-2022, many departures have been delayed," he said. By finding such a problem, Teddy said, his party conducted an investigation on the basis of the victim's report that he had collected the deposit. "The company has committed to returning the victim's money. Regarding the company's commitment, we are currently conducting an investigation to find out whether or not there is a criminal element," said Teddy "The investigation of this criminal element is also related to the flow of money deposited by the victim," he said. "Are all of them deposited to Jakarta (headquarter) or partly? We are still investigating this," he said.

For the whereabouts of RY who was secured during a search activity last weekend, Teddy said that his party had sent him home.
