The area of land that later caught fire in the Mount Rinjani National Park area on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara Province, reached 205 hectares according to officials at the national park hall.

Head of the Gunung Rinjani National Park Office, Dedy Asriady, said that the land fire that occurred on the Mount Rinjani hiking trail had been extinguished.

"There is no smoke that arises," said Dedy, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

He said that land fires, among others, had an impact on shrubs, ward trees, and cypress trees.

"The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the authorities," he said.

Dedy said that the two hiking trails would be reopened after their condition was confirmed safe.
