Plh Walkot Bandung Ema Sumarna Affirms Hundreds Of Million Money Confiscated By KPK Owned By Personal

The Daily Executive (Plh) of the Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, explained that the more than Rp322 million that was confiscated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at his home was his personal property.

This was revealed by Ema when answering questions from the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) regarding the origin of the funds, in a follow-up trial of the bribery case at the Bandung Smart City project, at the Bandung Corruption Court, Wednesday, August 9.

The KPK Prosecutor's Team initially asked Ema Sumarna's knowledge about the KPK's Hand Catch Operation (OTT) against Yana Mulyana. The prosecutor then questioned the findings of the money in Tumi's bag and a suitcase of more than Rp. 322 million at Ema Sumarna's house.

"There were no findings at home. At the official residence, they were examined on April 18, 2023 and some were taken, which were examined. I don't know for sure. (For the number mentioned by the prosecutor) it might be in the BAP," Ema said as quoted by ANTARA.

When asked by the prosecutor about the origin of the money, Ema explained that the money belonged to her personally as a result of the sale of her private vehicle, as well as the honorarium for her position in addition to definitively being the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bandung City.

"I sold private vehicles, I sold my Jazz. Then I had an honorarium from LPTQ (Tilawatil Quran Development Institute), then KPKB (Bandung City Employee Cooperative), then also my honorarium is usually from BUMD development," Ema explained.

Ema also emphasized that she had never received any funds from the Bandung City Transportation Service, either when led by Ricky Gustiadi or Dadang Darmawan.

"I have never received any funding," said Ema.

When asked by the panel of judges whether the money was related to the case of the inactive Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana, Ema Sumarna firmly rejected it.

"It has nothing to do with it, Your Honor," said Ema.

"Then why don't you mind when the money is taken if it's not related. So now what?" asked the panel of judges.

"It's hard to behave, sir (during the house inspection by the KPK). For now, I'm just waiting," said Ema.

"If it's not related, why don't you pretrial it's your right. Yes, that's it," said the panel of judges.
