Perpetrators Of Teacher Persecution With Slingshots In Rejang Lebong Have Been Imprisoned For Theft Case

REJANG LEBONG - Resort Police (Polres) Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu, said that the suspect in the persecution of SMAN Rejang Lebong teachers with a catalyst was a recidivist in a violent theft (curas) case in the area several years ago.

"The suspect AJ is a recidivist in a case of theft with violence or theft in 2014 and served a 2.5-year sentence at the Class IIA Curup Prison," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Rejang Lebong Police, Iptu Denyfita Mochtar, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 7.

Suspect AJ (45) turned himself in to the Rejang Lebong Police on Saturday (5/8) at around 23.05 WIB after four days of escaping after molesting the victim using a catapult that injured his right eye, causing blindness.

The handling of the case of severe abuse against the teacher of SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong was taken over by the Rejang Lebong Police after previously being handled by the Padang Ulak Tanding Police (PUT).

"As referred to in the primary article 356 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 355 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code, the subsidiary of Article 354 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code is more subsidiary to Article 353 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code is more subsidiary to Article 351 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 16 years," he explained.

The suspect AJ in front of the police investigators stated that he was emotional after receiving a report from his son PDM (16), who claimed to have been kicked by the victim for being accused of smoking in the school environment.

As for the complaint from the suspect's child (PDM) for the violence he experienced by the victim (Zaharman), continued Iptu Denyfita, is currently still in the process of being investigated.
