TNI Commander Plans To Modernize Alutsista At Paspampres In 1-2 Years

JAKARTA - TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono plans to modernize several defense equipment equipment in the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) and enlarge the organization within the Paspampres environment, especially for the Paspampres Group D in charge of securing the former president and vice president. Yudo explained that modernization is needed because some equipment is quite old. "I saw that many of the equipment was old, including its weapons. I had already (talked) with my staff, assistants, I told them to review it too, of course later it will also be my program in the future to modernize everything's equipment, including cars for security and protective cars and so on. I saw that everything was old, this will be my program in the future for modernization,” said the TNI Commander at the Paspampres Command Headquarters, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, August 7. He said the plan was likely to be realized quickly because the modernization program was included in the ongoing budget year. This is in the next 1–2 years, because this 2023 budget is already running. Of course, in 2023 we will plan it so that in 2024 we can support it, ” said Admiral Yudo. The TNI commander also mentioned the plan to expand the Paspampres Group D organization. “ Later, including the Paspampres organization, earlier which Group D might be enlarged. Yes, later we will create a working group to discuss this,” said Yudo. However, he did not explain further when the working group was formed. "Hopefully in the future Paspampres will have more advanced equipment, in addition to the personnel we have seen together, they are very, very professional in their fields," said Yudo. TNI Admiral Yudo Margono became the first TNI Commander during the administration of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin who received the Honorary Brevet of Alert Loyalty from the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres). The ceremony for the reshuffle and embedding of honorary brevets was carried out by the Commander of Paspampres (Danpaspampres) Major General TNI Rafael Granada Baay. This is an activity that we first carried out, and of course it is pride and honor for me to be given this beret and brevet. Of course it is my responsibility that Paspampres is a unit or balakpus (central implementing agency) under the TNI Commander,” said the TNI Commander. The ceremony for the commemoration and embedding of honorary brevets for the TNI Commander began with simulations and demonstrations of the capabilities of Paspampres members. Several simulations were shown to the TNI Commander, including simulations of tameing bombs, simulations of the evacuation of the President and First Lady, simulations of VVIP security during demonstrations and attacks. Then, there is also martial arts displayed by Paspampres members, considering that they are known as “tameng ” or “ live competition ” for the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, and First Lady. In the same series of events, as many as 60 Paspampres members also featured various martial arts, including karate, judo, aikido, white pigeons, and Pencak Silat WS Pamungkas which are traditional Indonesian martial arts. Several members also showed that this ability was used to defend themselves and beat opponents. Finally, several Paspampres members showed their ability to exercise their bodies by breaking the crucial array, light brick, concrete, blocks of ice cubes, and hot iron.
