The General Election Commission Deems Denny Indrayana Lawsuit Regarding Injustice At The South Kalimantan Governor Election Unclear

JAKARTA - The request for dispute over the results of the election for the governor and deputy governor of South Kalimantan submitted by pair number 2 Denny Indrayana and Difriadi is called is unclear according to the General Election Commission. The reason is that Denny Indrayana did not elaborate on the vote count errors.

"In his petition starting from pages 9 to 123, the petitioner questioned several violations and fraud in the implementation of the 2020 South Kalimantan governor and deputy governor election, but the petitioner did not contain an explanation of the vote count error determined by the respondent", said the South Kalimantan General Election Commission attorney, Ali Nurdin in the trial of the dispute over the results of the 2020 National Meeting of the Court at the Constitutional Court, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 1.

Denny-Difriadi, he said, also did not submit the correct vote count results according to the petitioner so that the applicant did not actually question the results of the recapitulation of votes.

Then the South Kalimantan General Election Commission considered the petition unclear because Denny-Difriadi submitted various requests for up to four alternatives which were requested to the Constitutional Court.

In the alternative petition, the Respondent considered that there was an inconsistency, namely asking the Constitutional Court to nullify the votes acquired in Binuang and Hatungun Districts, Tapin District, but in another alternative requesting re-voting among all polling stations in Binuang.

Regarding the petition's argument accusing the incumbent pair of misusing COVID-19 social assistance and the water reservoir program, the South Kalimantan General Election Commission admitted that they had never received a recommendation for the violations argued by the applicant.

"The Petitioner also won in 8 districts out of 13 in South Kalimantan", said Ali Nurdin.

As previously reported, the General Election Commission of South Kalimantan determined the number of votes for the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor number 1 Sahbirin Noor and Muhidin as many as 851,822 votes or 50.24 percent. Meanwhile, the total votes acquired by the Denny-Difri pair was 843,695 votes or 49.76 percent.
