The Occupancy Rate Of Star Hotels Increases, December 2020 Recorded Increasing 0.65 Percent Monthly

JAKARTA - Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the room occupancy rate (TPK) or occupancy of star-classified hotels in Indonesia in December 2020 reached an average of 40.79 percent. On a monthly basis, hotel occupancy has begun to show an increase.

Head of BPS Suhariyanto revealed that the ROR for December 2020 had a slight increase of 0.65 points, when compared to the previous month which was recorded at only 40.12 percent.

Furthermore, Suhariyanto said that the increase in hotel occupancy rates was driven by activities carried out by the government and the private sector in various hotels.

"So if we look at the end of last fiscal year, there were several activities carried out by both government and private institutions in various hotels by still paying attention to health protocols," he said, in a virtual press conference, Monday, February 1.

Meanwhile, the highest hotel occupancy percentage was recorded in East Kalimantan Province at 59.78 percent, followed by Lampung Province at 59.32 percent, and West Papua Province at 58.51 percent.

"Meanwhile, the lowest ROR was recorded in the Provinces of Bali, Riau Islands and Bangka Belitung," he explained.

For the average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests, Suhariyanto said, in December 2020 it was 1.61 days. When compared to the same month in the previous year, the average length of stay in December 2020 decreased by 0.15 points.

Meanwhile, he said, when compared to November 2020, the average length of stay in December 2020 increased by 0.02 points.

According to the province, the longest average length of stay for guests in December 2020 was recorded in Maluku Province, namely 2.89 days, followed by West Sulawesi Province at 2.17 days, and Gorontalo Province at 2.12 days.

Meanwhile, the shortest average length of stay for guests was recorded in Bengkulu Province at 1.23 days, followed by Central Java and Jambi Provinces with 1.26 days and 1.34 days, respectively.
