AHY Accuses Jokowi's Men Of Participating In The Movement To Overthrow His Position From The Democrat Chair

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), said that a state official under President Joko Widodo was involved in the movement to take over his position as Chairman of the Democratic Party.

He revealed this in a press conference accompanied by Democrat Secretary General Teuku Riefky Harsya, Chairman of the Democratic Honorary Council Hinca Pandjaitan, and Chairman of the Democratic Party Court, Nachrowi Ramli.

"According to the testimonies and testimonies of many parties we have received, this movement involves important government officials who are functionally within the power circle closest to President Joko Widodo," said AHY at the DPP Democrat Party's office, Monday, February 1.

In fact, AHY said, this movement is also said to have received support from a number of ministers and important officials in President Joko Widodo's administration.

AHY said, the invitation and request for support to forcefully replace the Democratic Party Chairperson was carried out either by telephone or in direct meetings with Democratic cadres and leaders.

In their communication, AHY said that the movement to take over the position of Chairman of the Democratic Party would be used as a vehicle for those concerned as presidential candidates in the upcoming 2024 General Election.

"The leadership and cadres of Democrats who reported feeling uncomfortable and even refused when contacted and invited to replace the Chairman of the Democratic Party," he said.

Apart from one government official, this movement was also echoed by four other people who have ties to the party.

They consist of one active Democrat cadre, one cadre who has been inactive for six years, one former cadre who was dishonorably dismissed for 9 years due to corruption, and one cadre who left the party 3 years ago.

Not accepting the existence of this jagged movement, AHY admitted that he would defend his party's sovereignty and honor. He will maintain the position of Chairman of the Democrats by taking legal steps.

"We will do so by heeding the constitution and laws, legal institutions and political initiatives that are based on the values of moral and ethical justice. Of course we will be firm, but God willing, the Democratic Party will remain consistent in using peaceful and civilized methods. "he said.
