Remember The Closeness Of Bung Karno And Kiai Hasyim Asyari, Megawati: PDIP-NU Must Go Hand In Hand

JAKARTA - The Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri was present to celebrate the 95th birthday (Harlah) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), today.

The celebration was held from the PDIP DPP Headquarters Building, on Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta, with the theme 'Rumah Nusantara'.

In his remarks, Megawati recalled that the closeness between the nationalists and the religious has continued to this day. Likewise, the relationship between PDIP and NU is very close and always side by side.

"I am very reminded and I am sure that history also remembers how close Bung Karno, the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, with Kiai Haji Hasyim Asyari and Kiai Haji Abdul Wahab Hasbullah, as well as many of the Kiai founders and activists of other nahdlatul ulama and I will never forget, "he said, in Jakarta, Sunday, January 31.

Mega admits that he always remembers and never forgets that Bung Karno was given the title by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), namely Waliyul Amri Addharuri Bi As Syaukah.

"The title, which is the great support of the Nahdliyin people for his leadership, was validated in the 1954 Nahdlatul Ulama Congress in Surabaya," he said.

In the future, said Mega, Bung Karno's closeness to the kiai and nahdliyin residents would be continued in action and had been mandated to all nationalists as well as PDIP cadres and sympathizers.

"Because I firmly believe that if the PDIP can continue to work hand in hand with Nahdlatul Ulama, all threats to our nationality can be overcome," he explained.

Not to forget, Mega also congratulated Nahdlatul Ulama for being able to continue to exist at the age of 95. According to him, this NU must show that NU is a strong organization.

"I congratulate you at the age of 95, of course by showing how mature an organization is with the attitude and struggle of an organization called Nahdlatul Ulama," he said.
