JAKARTA - Member of Commission III DPR Andi Rio Idris Padjalangi urged the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators of burning the red and white flag whose videos went viral on TikTok social media.

"The police must immediately take concrete steps by arresting and revealing the motives of the perpetrators in carrying out the burning of the red and white flag," Andi was quoted as saying by Antara, Saturday, January 30.

The Golkar politician said the red and white flag was a symbol of the state that had to be respected. So that if there are people who burn the red and white flag, then the action is a form of insult to the state symbol.

Andi reminded the Police not to let the perpetrators roam freely and continue to carry out their actions for the sake of content and popularity.

"The police must immediately arrest the perpetrators and provide punishment and get a deterrent effect," he said.

Previously circulated a 30-second video on TikTok showing a man burning a red and white flag.

In the video, the man is seen pouring a liquid suspected of being gasoline onto the red and white flag that had first been burned at the bottom. The fire quickly scorched the flag.
