The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensured that the subsidized LPG supply had been controlled after it was reported that there was a shortage in several districts/cities.

"Meanwhile, the scarcity reported in the last few days has occurred in a number of areas, according to information from PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in East Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, due to the momentum of the long holiday in schools plus Eid al-Adha," Khofifah said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 27.

Demand for 3 kilograms of LPG has recently increased due to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector, mainly food and beverage traders to stalls, starting to move.

Currently, the East Java Provincial Government through the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is coordinating with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in East Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara (Jatimbalinus) to increase the supply of subsidized LPG at the base and agent levels.

Not only the addition of LPG quota, Khofifah also hopes that price stability will be maintained at the consumer level.

Governor Khofifah is grateful, amid the scarcity that has occurred in several districts/cities in the last few days, the price of subsidized LPG is still monitored in a stable position at IDR 16,000 per tube.

"Communication with the base, agents and Pertamina must continue to be built. Therefore, maybe if there is an additional prolonged request, the local regional head can submit a new quota," he said.

According to him, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Jatimbalinus has agreed that in the next few days it will try to increase supply in several areas by 30 to 70 percent of the average daily distribution.

Khofifah believes these steps can reduce scarcity, as long as people buy according to their needs.

"Therefore, we appeal to the community, cooperate with regents/mayors as well, to socialize subsidy programs on target," he said.
