KPU Offers The Ministry Of Health To Create A Covid-19 Vaccination Scheme Like Election TPS

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Arief Budiman said that his party has opened the option to offer the COVID-19 vaccination scheme to the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).

Arief said, the Ministry of Health could imitate the general election scheme (election) using polling stations (TPS) for the vaccination program for the general public.

He conveyed this at a work meeting related to the continuation of the plan to use election voter data in order to support the COVID-19 vaccination program.

"For example, the officers are at the district or sub-district level, but the target population to be vaccinated is like TPS-based. So, they can be grouped based on TPS who can be asked to come to the point or location where the vaccination is held," said Arief in a virtual meeting. , Friday, 29 January.

In addition, Arief also opened the option to re-recruit officials from the polling organization (KPPS) who worked during the 2020 Pilkada, to become vaccination officers.

"In the KPU structure, the lowest level is KPPS. But, because they are ad hoc bodies, if cooperation is needed to the lowest level, then we can re-recruit KPPS again," said Arief.

However, he said, this option is just an offer to the Ministry of Health. KPU, said Arief, is trying to support the smooth running of the national COVID-19 vaccination program.

"Hopefully not only the voter data used in vaccination, but also the structure owned by the KPU can help the Ministry of Health carry out its duties," he said.

For information, the KPU received an official letter from the Ministry of Health this morning. The letter contains a request for data on election voters as a database for people who will receive COVID-19 vaccinations.

Therefore, today the KPU is holding a coordination meeting with all members of the provincial and district / city KPUs to follow up on the request.
