The Prosecutor's Office Names 2 Corruption Suspects For The Tulungagung Disdik Gamelan Project

TULUNGAGUNG - Tulungagung District Attorney, East Java, has named two suspects in the alleged corruption case of a gamelan procurement project at the Tulungagung Regency Education Office with a state loss value of around Rp600 million.

"We made this determination after the pulbaket (collection of information material) was carried out from a number of witnesses and found sufficient evidence," said Tulungagung District Attorney's Head of Intelligence Amri Rahmanto as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 18.

Amri has yet to reveal the identities and initials of the two suspects, but ensures that the legal process of the case continues and the files are immediately transferred to the appointed public prosecutor to be brought to court.

Based on the calculation of the loss, the prosecutor's office has exposed the case and raised the status from general investigation to special investigation.

Amri said investigators were focusing on filing so they could immediately enter the trial.

"So that witnesses and suspects can be examined immediately," he said.

Investigators have examined about 50 witnesses in the corruption case of this gamelan procurement project. They will be re-examined in the status of a special investigation case.

The witnesses included 31 elementary school principals who received gamelan assistance and gamelan experts from the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Yogyakarta.

"All schools receiving this gamelan package were visited one by one, not samples," he added.

Experts from ISI Yogyakarta found gamelan not according to specifications, such as its non-fit sound. In addition, the wood used is also of low quality so that it is easily weathered.
