The Aceh Government is waiting for the revision of the Qanun Islamic Financial Institution (LKS) regarding the plan to operate conventional banks in the local province.
"Currently, the DPRA is conducting a study on the revision of the Qanun LKS which involves competent parties and other related parties," said Aceh Provincial Government Spokesperson Muhammad MTA in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 13.
He made this statement regarding the green light from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on the re-operation of conventional banks in Aceh.
"We'll just have to wait for the results of the study being carried out by the Aceh House of Representatives (DPR)," said MTA.
According to him, to be able to operate again, the conventional bank in the province of five million people may need a revision of the Qanun LKS.
He reiterated the operation of conventional banks in Aceh awaiting the revision of Aceh Qanun Number 11 of 2018 concerning Sharia Financial Institutions.
