West Sumatra Provincial Government Budgets IDR 8.3 Billion For Grand Mosque Rehabilitation

PADANG - The Department of Highways for Spatial Planning (BMCKTR) of West Sumatra Province has budgeted IDR 8.3 billion for the rehabilitation of the Great Mosque of West Sumatra which is one of the religious tourism icons in the area.

Head of the Cipta Karya Division of the West Sumatra BMCKR Service, as the Budget User Authority (KPA) for the Rehabilitation of the West Sumatra Grand Mosque, Dedi Rinaldi said the rehabilitation was carried out because the condition of some buildings had been badly damaged.

"The rehabilitation of the Great Mosque of West Sumatra is a further rehabilitation work because the same thing has been done before," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 11.

Rehabilitation is carried out, including for the ground floor in the form of injection work. Then repair the ceiling and lights.

Meanwhile, on the first floor, the rehabilitation carried out is in the form of work on pegs and painting ornaments that are starting to fade due to the weather.

Also replaced by hand railing stainless steel on the broken iron door on the first floor. Meanwhile, on the mezanin floor on the second floor, to be precise in the prayer room there is also an old ceiling work in the form of a strip, replaced with a new one.

"Rehabilitation work is carried out only on damaged parts. The dominant condition of damage is found in the paint of the West Sumatra Grand Mosque which has begun to fade. There are no new functions added," he said.

Dedi revealed that the rehabilitation was carried out to cost Rp. 8.3 billion. The rehabilitation work is targeted for completion in October 2023 in accordance with the expiration of the contract on October 23, 2023.

Work for 180 days. The initial contract value was April 27, 2023 with a budget of Rp. 8.3 billion," he said.

Dedi said the rehabilitation was carried out only in the core of the mosque building which functions as a place of prayer. Meanwhile, the tower building next to the mosque has not been rehabilitated because the tower is under the maintenance of the West Sumatra Regional Secretariat Bureau.

"If the tower is under the maintenance of the West Sumatra Provincial Secretariat Bureau. If there are parts that cannot be maintained, we will help. The condition of the tower itself is still good. The possibility of rehab can only be done next year," he said.
