Three Days In Papua, KSP: President Jokowi Lifts Issues Of Welfare Development To Security

JAKARTA - Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office, Theo Litaay said, the presence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for three days in Papua has touched various aspects.

Starting from welfare development to security, including in relation to the settlement of the Susi Air pilot hostage-taking case.

"This further confirms that the central government continues to pay attention, support and assistance to the progress of development and security in the Papua region," Theo told reporters, Saturday, July 8.

From the context of welfare development, explained Theo, President Jokowi was present and inaugurated Ewer Airport, in Asmat district, South Papua.

The existence of this airport is expected to open access for the local community to receive education and health services.

In addition, President Jokowi also inaugurated the Papua Street Carnival and Lake Sentani Festival, in Jayapura districts and cities, as well as harvesting corn, in the food estate area, in Keerom district.

According to Theo, the President's intensive and extensive activities show that the situation in the Papua region is very conducive for investment and economic activities.

"At the same time strengthening the political will (political desire) of the central government, which never stops paying attention to welfare development in Papua," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the security aspect, especially in relation to the case of the Susi Air pilot hostage, Philips Mark Merthens, by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), explained Theo, President Jokowi continued to push for negotiating steps in handling the case.
