Malaysia Criticizes Western Attitudes In Protecting Israel's Regime

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia has criticized the discriminatory attitude of Western countries which often denounce conflicts in other countries but protect the Israeli regime from responsibility for their actions against the Palestinian population.

This criticism was conveyed by Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Committee Meeting on Palestine in Baku, Azerbaijan, which was attended by 15 committee members, according to a statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday 7 July.

During the meeting, Zambry also raised a number of issues, including concern for the current situation in Palestine, which claimed many lives, including women and children, and destroyed infrastructure.

He also condemned the recent incident in Jenin City, West Bank, which involved the killing of Palestinian civilians by the Israeli regime.

Zambry urged NAM member countries to continue to unite in defending their stance regarding Palestine, and condemning the Israeli regime's atrocities and apartheid policies.

Malaysia's stance is still the same, he said, namely recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to have their own independent and sovereign state like other independent countries in the world.

The Israeli military this week carried out its largest military operation in more than 20 years in the city of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.

Some 12 Palestinians were killed, including five children, and more than 140 people were injured in the attack, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
