Attorney Eri Cahyadi Says Machfud Arifin's Accusation About Surabaya Pilkada At The Constitutional Court Session Is Baseless

SURABAYA - The legal team for the pair of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor of Surabaya Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman (MAJU) submitted a request in the inaugural session of the Surabaya Regional Election (Pilkada) lawsuit at the Constitutional Court (MK).

The legal team for candidate pair number one, Eri Cahyadi-Armudji (Erji), chaired by Arif Budi Santoso, called the MAJU candidate's lawsuit inconsequential because it was baseless.

"The accusation is baseless, what is the basis? Everything has been decided, and there is no violation of the Surabaya Regional Head Election," said Arif, confirmed, Wednesday, January 27.

In fact, continued Arif, the big points read out in front of the panel of judges were very bright. Given, the allegations of the MAJU candidate on the Erji candidate pair have been reported to the Surabaya City Bawaslu to the central Bawaslu.

"But what, the result is nil. Because none of the Pilkada organizers have found or decided that the candidate pair Erji is guilty. That's why I call their accusations baseless," he explained.

Arif also regretted the allegations by the MAJU candidate regarding the involvement of Tri Rismaharini (at that time as Mayor of Surabaya), siding with and supporting the Erji candidate pair. Arif said that this was done by Risma while on leave, and it was allowed under the regulations.

"What is interesting is that they accuse Risma and the Surabaya City Government of deploying ASN to win over Erji. But they only convey words without any evidence. If Mrs. Risma supports and campaigns for Erji, her capacity is clear as party management," he said.

Arif said that his party would reveal the alleged fraud committed by the Machfud-Mujiaman camp and supporters in the interlocutory decision. Arif hopes that this can be a consideration for the judge, to determine whether this lawsuit will continue or not.

"We have quite a lot of evidence of violations from the adjoining camp (MAJU), starting from the distribution of groceries, money politics, misuse of BNPB assistance, and others. We'll see how," said Arif.
