SEMARANG - Semarang City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) asked for a review of the construction of alternative routes connecting the Diponegoro University Semarang campus with the Jangli Semarang area.
Secretary of Commission C of the Semarag City DPRD, Suharsono, emphasized that the study must be carried out before the construction of the second phase is continued because it has been damaged, namely subsidence.
He said the construction of the Undip-Jangli alternative route cost Rp. 50 billion, which is divided into two stages, namely the first phase has been completed with a budget of around Rp. 30 billion.
"This year is the second continuation. Last year (the budget, red) was around Rp. 30 billion. This year it is around Rp. 20 billion. This year the budget is continued," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 5.
According to him, studies need to be carried out because the route that has been built has collapsed at several points so that the cause and solution is confirmed so that it does not happen again.
He explained that the obstacles experienced in the construction of alternative routes were likely from the type of soil which in the summer was dry, but during the rainy season it became soft.
"Therefore, there must be a study before it is continued (development, ed), solve the existing problems yesterday, then proceed. If not, yes, whoever the contractor is sorry, problems will arise," he said.
Supposedly, he said, there should be technology that is a solution to solve the problem, and the Public Works Service (DPU) must have understood the type of land and could have handled it.
What is clear, he emphasized that real action must be taken and resolved as soon as possible because the budget used is quite large, especially since the road is very strategic and the community is waiting for it.

In addition, Suharsono also requested that the relevant agencies also ask for input from experts from Undip to handle the cause of the subsidence effectively.
The Semarang City Government is currently reviewing the cause of the subsidence of several points on alternative routes connecting the Diponegoro University Semarang campus with the Jangli area that has just been built.
"The results of yesterday's research on the faults that occurred in Jangli below, there was a kind of 'tilt' (cloud) soil with a centimeter," said Semarang City Regional Secretary Iswar Aminuddin.
This kind of clay layer, he said, causes land subsidence which makes the road subside, and is currently still a study, including how the best solution will be done.
