Designated As A Hospital For COVID-19 Patients, Udayana University Hospital Adds Isolation Room Facilities

JAKARTA - Especially for COVID-19 patients, the Bali Province Udayana University State University Hospital (RSPTN Unud) provides health facilities in the form of an additional building with two floors. The building with 26 beds and a room with negative pressure will be used as an isolation room.

Quoted by VOI from a virtual press conference in Badung, Bali, Wednesday, January 27, the Chancellor of Udayana University Prof. AA Raka Sudewi explained that the arrangement of facilities and infrastructure in Building 6 had been adjusted to the special standards for isolation rooms. The building consists of treatment room facilities, changing rooms and 26 beds with negative pressure rooms. The negative pressure room is used to prevent airborne transmission of the virus.

Since being selected as a hospital for special isolation for COVID-19 patients, RSPTN Unud has improved infrastructure and developed supporting infrastructure with adjustments to special standards for isolation rooms.

The building is also equipped with a special lane for COVID-19 patients and medical personnel on duty. On this special route, said Raka Sudewi, access is separate from non-COVID patients. Repair work on the facilities and infrastructure of Building 6 was carried out from November to December 2020.

Launching from Antara, the Director of RSPTN Unud Prof. Dewa Putu Purwa Samatra provided additional information, of the 26 available beds in Building 6, 13 of the beds have been used by COVID-19 patients.

"Currently, 13 beds are operated in Building 6. Next week, 13 more beds are operated. Currently, the total number of patients is 92 beds. If the total there are 105 beds, but there are several beds whose rooms are still being repaired," he explained.

Since April 2020, RSPTN Unud has been designated a special hospital for COVID-19 patients. The number of patients who have undergone treatment is 13,000 patients with a cure rate of 92-94 percent and a death rate of 2 percent.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 swab test sample has been carried out in the ER RSPTN as many as 25,000 tests. RSPTN Unud deployed approximately 600 health workers to serve COVID-19 patients. In accordance with government regulations, health workers on duty have received the COVID-19 vaccination.

"So far, we have vaccinated 240 health workers and support personnel with a capacity of 45 per day," concluded Dewa Putu Purwa Samatra.
