COVID Reaches One Million Cases, 600 Health Workers Passed Away, Minister Of Health: Their Struggle Should Not Be In Vain

JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin reminded the public to be aware of the transmission of COVID-19. He said the Coronavirus pandemic in Indonesia is getting serious.

Because currently there are 600 health workers (Nakes) who died in a positive state of COVID-19 because they were infected while handling patients. In addition, currently, the total number of COVID-19 cases has exceeded 1 million cases.

"I am sure that many of our friends we know have died. That's what we have to reflect on. There is a virus, this pandemic is serious", said Budi after undergoing vaccinations at the State Palace, Wednesday, January 27.

What must be underlined, said Budi, that the public should not make the death of health workers because of struggling to treat COVID-19 patients in vain.

"I have to take my friends. The 600 health workers who have died, don't let them die in vain. We must ensure that their struggle can be continued", said Budi.

To do this, Budi asked the public to continue to comply with 3M's health protocols, namely wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance. Then, the government will increase the 3T, namely tracing, testing and treatment.

"I think these two things are for moments of working hard, very hard and extra hard in terms of complying with health. 3M, also in terms of the Ministry of Health, coordinates so that the 3T program runs even faster. That's what we must do together", he said.
