GunungKIDUL - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan HamengkubuwonoX asked the Gunungkidul Cultural Park not to be used for a while because it suffered severe damage due to an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 that occurred on Friday (30/6) night.

When reviewing the impact of the earthquake in Gunungkidul Regency, Sri Sultan asked the relevant government officials to carry out a thorough check of the condition of the building and the electricity network in Gunungkidul Cultural Park.

"Please immediately carry out a thorough check to find out the extent of the complete condition of this building," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 1.

The governor also asked the management of the Gunungkidul Cultural Park to sterilize the Auditorium area and not use the facility for a while.

"Immediately repaired, immediately coordinating with related agencies," he said.

Sultan said that the earthquake that occurred on Friday (30/6) night did not cause severe damage in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

According to him, the houses affected by the earthquake on average only suffered minor damage and have been handled by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the community in each region.

"So there is no need for a disaster emergency response. If the district needs a budget or assistance, please coordinate," said Sultan.

Gunungkidul Regent Sunaryanta said that the earthquake had an impact on several parts of the Gunungkidul area, including Kapanewon/Semanu and Playen sub-districts.

According to him, the earthquake caused damage to public facilities and government buildings in the sub-district area.

"The BPBD is still collecting data. Most of the community has helped each other to help condition the houses of affected residents," said the Regent.
