General Listyo Sigit Promises The National Police To Help Handling COVID-19 And Economic Recovery

JAKARTA - After being inaugurated as National Police Chief replacing General Idham Azis, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will immediately carry out his duties. One of them is helping to handle the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

"We will carry out our duties, face the challenges ahead. We all know that we are currently facing the COVID-19 pandemic situation", Listyo said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Wednesday, January 27.

In dealing with this situation, Listyo then promised his members would uphold community discipline to comply with health protocols that are important for public safety.

"We are trying to make efforts to combat COVID-19 in the activities that we discipline. We must enforce health protocols because public safety is the highest law", he said.

Not only promising to place public safety as the highest law, but Listyo also promised to protect national economic growth by maintaining security and public order. So that in the future economic activity can recover immediately after being affected by COVID-19.

"The National Police helps guard the national economic growth so that we can all be separated from the existing situation and the economy can grow and this can all be done if the stability of the East Java runs safely, smoothly and well", he said.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Listyo Sigit Prabowo to become the new National Police Chief replacing General Idham Azis, who entered retirement. The inauguration will take place at the State Palace on Wednesday, January 27 at 09.30 WIB.

Before the oath of office was carried out, the event began with the singing of the Indonesia Raya national anthem. Furthermore, the reading of Presidential Decree No. 5 Polri of 2021 concerning the honorific dismissal of General Idham Azis as the Chief of Police and appointing Listyo Sigit as his replacement was carried out.

After the inauguration is carried out, the National Police Headquarters will hold a Handover of the Position (Sertijab) of the National Police Chief from General Idham Azis to Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo today.

The handover of the Tribrata Police Panji is a traditional event at the Bhayangkara Corps as a sign that Sigit is holding the highest command stick.
