Jokowi Targets One Million Health Care Workers Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo is targeting one million health workers to be vaccinated in the near time.

He said, at the beginning of the first batch of vaccinations, the government had only received approximately 250 thousand vaccinators from health personnel. Then, the number jumped sharply, because in a day there could be 50 thousand vaccinators.

"Indeed we hope for the target, it is because we have 30 thousand vaccinators, there are approximately 10 thousand of our health centers, as well as in our 3,500 hospitals, we actually hope that at least 900 to one million can be vaccinated. This is a target but it does take time, it takes good field management, and this is what I always convey to the Minister of Health," said Jokowi after carrying out the second vaccination, Wednesday, January 27.

He added that health workers are the top priority for recipients of this vaccine. After health personnel, there are National Army (TNI), National Police (Polri), and public/community servants.

"I think in February we will be able to enter there (people receive the vaccine)," said Jokowi.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) carried out the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination on Wednesday morning, January 27. Jokowi was vaccinated for the first phase on Wednesday, January 13.

It is known, the vaccine produced by Sinovac does require two injections at a dose of 0.5 milliliters and is 14 days apart.

Just like the first vaccination, this activity will be broadcasted live through the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account.

Furthermore, after receiving the vaccination, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta will inaugurate Commissioner-General (Komjen) Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the Chief of Police at the State Palace to replace General Idham Azis who is entering retirement.

"The inauguration of the Chief of Police is also planned to be held tomorrow after the President has received the vaccination," said Heru.
