The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has uncovered cases of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) in Central Sulawesi and Bekasi. The victims were two babies who were only one month old. However, the baby with the initials A was deliberately handed over by his mother to someone with the initials F. "But it was handed over by SS (the mother of child A) at Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport to a woman who then A's child was brought to Jakarta," he said. With the results of the investigation, the Central Sulawesi Police issued LP model A on June 12, 2023 regarding the alleged Child Trafficking Crime. Then, direct development is carried out. Some time has passed, there is information that baby A was taken to an apartment in the Bekasi area, West Java. In fact, the apartment unit is said to be used as a baby shelter before being sold to potential buyers. "Then a search was carried out and one suspect was arrested on behalf of Y and then based on the findings, we carried out an investigation at Bareskrim," said Djuhandhani. From this development, three other suspects with the initials SA, E, and DM were arrested. They act as baby seekers to holders. "From the results of the investigation, it is known that suspect Y since the end of 2022 has traded 16 babies with details of five baby boys and 11 girls," said Djuhandhani. With the roles and evidence found, the suspects were charged with Article 6 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (PTPPO). The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison, a minimum of 3 years in prison and a fine of at least Rp. 120 million at most Rp. 600 million.

Then, Article 83 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a minimum threat of 3 years and a maximum of 15 years as well as a fine of at least Rp. 60 million and a maximum of Rp. 300 million.
