Police Hunt Down Bicyclist Robber Motor Gang In West Jakarta

JAKARTA - Members of the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit are hunting down bicyclists robber who are suspected of being members of a motorcycle gang that happened on Jalan Latumenten Grogol Petamburan.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police, Grand Commissioner Adjutant (AKBP) Teuku Arsya Khadafi, said the victim, M. Slamet Supriyadi, reported that he was caught by a number of people who rode on motorbikes, and took the cellphone attached to the bicycle handlebar. This incident happened on Monday, January 25 evening.

"After we discovered the report, I ordered the members to move quickly to investigate the incident," said Arsya as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 26.

Arsya said the officers under the command of the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Unit, Commissioner Adjutant (AKP) Dimitri Mahendra and West Jakarta Metro Police Sub-Division Head Police Inspector (Ipda) M. Rizky Ali Akbar were moving in the middle of carrying out the crime scene.

Currently, police officers are still gathering witnesses' statements and evidence as well as CCTV footage around the scene and are hunting down the perpetrators.

The chronology, when he was on his bicycle arriving at Jalan Prof. Dr. Latumenten, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, the victim was caught by an unknown rider and several other motorbikes tried to trick his attention.

Then the cellphone attached to the bicycle handlebar was taken by the motorcyclists. The victim had pursued the perpetrators, but suddenly lost control due to lack of concentration and fell and injured his right hand.

After the incident, the victim and his colleagues went to the West Jakarta Metro Police to make a report on what happened to him.
