BANDUNG - The police arrested a young man who worked as a parking attendant with the initials RS (26) who actually committed theft of a motorcycle.

The Head of District Police (Kapolsek) of Andir, Police Commissioner (Kompol) Elsi F. Anggraini said RS had carried out the theft by targeting vehicles parked on the terrace of the house.

Armed with the ability to break into motorcycle keys, he stole a motorcycle in Erma Alley, Andir District, Bandung City, West Java.

"After realizing the missing motorcycle, the owner immediately reported it to us. And the members did the crime scene," said Elsi, in Bandung as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 26.

Elsi said the perpetrator had prepared a fake motorcycle key before launching his action. The theft, according to Elsi, was carried out quite quickly in community settlements.

In addition, according to Elsi, the perpetrator committed the theft based on the motive of economic needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Elsi said, the stolen goods had not been sold by the perpetrators. So that the police immediately secured the perpetrator as well as the stolen property.

When arrested, the perpetrators did not take any resistance. Apart from securing the perpetrators, the police also secured a number of CCTV footage from around the scene of the theft.

"The perpetrator was secured at his usual hangout place, Halteu Utara street," said Elsi.

According to Elsi, the perpetrator was not the first to have committed the theft. Previously, in 2020, Elsi also said that the perpetrator had stolen a motorbike and used it on a daily basis.

"The perpetrator is subjected to Article 363 with a sentence of over 5 years. The perpetrator was detained at Andir Police Headquarters," he said.
