DLHK Riau Duga 25 Rakit Kayu Balok In The Gulamo River Illegal Logging Results

PeKANBARU - The Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK) of Riau Province suspects that as many as 25 wooden rafts were found floating and drifting in the waters of the Glamo River, Kampar Regency, were the result of illegal logging, which was carried away by the current from the Pangkalan area, Payakumbuh Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra).

"Based on information on tracking balances by Riau Provincial DLHK officers through the Forest Management Unit (KPH) of Kampar Regency, it was recorded that the coordinates indicated that the wood came from Pangkalan, Payakumbuh Regency, West Sumatra Province, allegedly the result of illegal logging," said Riau DLHK Sub-Coordinator of Law Enforcement Agus Suryoko as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 23.

According to him, his party has confirmed with the Kampar Law Enforcement Coordinator and based on the results of tracking indicated coordinates from the Pangkalan area, West Sumatra.

Agus said that currently, the forestry officer DLHK Riau together with the police are still investigating the alleged origin of the illegal wood, including who owns the logs assembled at the location of the Gulamo River tourist attraction.

"KPH (Hutan Management Unit) Bangkinang has secured evidence of the alleged illegal logging. Yesterday, the Joint Team with the Kampar Police had also gone down to that location, and the perpetrators of the illegal logging crime are still unknown," said Agus.

The team conducted an investigation into the rafting of wood that was washed away, after the visitor to the tourist attraction found and recorded logs scattered in the flow of the Gulamo River.

"When hundreds of logs were found, 25 rafts were collected with each of the wooden bonds consisting of 7-8 logs," he said.
