BMKG Early Warning, Rain Accompanied By Lightning And Strong Winds Occur In Parts Of NTT

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning to the public of the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds that hit parts of the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Head of BMKG El Tari Meteorological Station, Agung Sudiono Abadi, said that the weather potential occurred in Kupang City, Kupang Regency, Rote Ndao, Sikka, South Central Timor, North Central Timor, Malacca, and Belu.

"Heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds is estimated to still have the potential to occur in the NTT region until Wednesday (26/1) at 13.00 WITA," said Sudiono as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 26.

Rain in NTT is currently at its peak, so that several areas in NTT experience extreme rain which can lead to flooding.

However, in general, the rainfall in NTT is fairly normal because during the week the amount of rainfall only ranges from 0-60 milli per day.

Agung requested that the public continue to monitor weather developments through the canal prepared by BMKG and obey the appeal not to become victims of natural disasters such as floods and landslides.

"We convey the weather early warning through the weather information application so that it can be monitored by the public at any time because if there is a disaster there is always an early warning from us," he said. Agung appealed to the public to entrust information related to weather developments and potential disasters from the BMKG.
